Business Continuity Cannot Be an Afterthought

Here is what we see in the future—companies will be able to address availability through their architectural efforts. That’s the real message — business continuity cannot be an afterthought. It must be an architectural consideration factored into the design. Regardless of methodology employed to reach a final application design, the idea of addressing recovery after deployment is naïve at best or dangerous at worst. The point is business continuity is not like a “picking paint colours ” for your kitchen – it’s more about ensuring you are using the right lumber to allow for heavier furnishings later.

Unfortunately most organizations deal with disaster recovery during transition because it’s an afterthought. Some might get it in design — but very few get it in strategy. That’s where it needs to be because it’s one of the first things to ask the business user —nothing’s perfect so what level of availability do you need in order to have a successful solution? Otherwise, we are just creating more pain for you than it’s worth.

In the Cloud computing world

In Cloud computing, you only consume the resources satisfying the business need. at So you get the flexibility around resource availability. The second thing is the resource’s maintenance flexibility. In other words, in Cloud computing, the vast majority of tools are online; patching services are built in. All of the things that would be frustrating are there.

The Solution: “Always On” solution for their mission-critical applications

Cloud adoption has grown exponentially in the last 24 months. Through services, solutions and proactive support, a Cloud needs to be trusted and secure in the quickly evolving marketplace. Clouds should be connected to provide datacentre failover in different regions.

Cost-Effective BC/DR

For years, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) are terms every person within IT has been familiar with – having the budget to create and execute on a BCDR solution has been a different story. New Cloud designs have made it possible for companies of all sizes to avoid downtime, provide a seamless experience to their clients, reduce the costs of traditional BCDR, and meet the industries’ regulatory demands. We like to think that ThinkOn is one of those new and cost effective Cloud designs.
